Hi everyone! I am so excited to share our entry and living room with you today. It’s the first room you see as you enter our home. This room was a huge selling feature to us on this home because of the 1960s windows and vaulted ceiling. We knew it had a ton of hidden potential right away!

As you can see, I had a little doggy helper and she was VERY into being in photos on the day we shot this. See how many times you can spot Dolly (and Suki too!).

Before we begin … how about a walk down memory lane?? Here’s the living room when we purchased the home.

When we first saw this home, the curtains on the front windows made it feel much darker. And since this room doesn’t get much direct sunlight because of the hill it’s built on, the curtains were not necessary. I also knew the ceiling needed some detail. It was great to have a big lofted ceiling, but I knew it needed to be planked to add warmth and charm. I wanted to make the ceiling and the windows really shine, since they are some of the best original features our home came with.

OK … back to the AFTER photos …

After removing the curtains, we painted the trim a fresh, bright white. We used Ultra White by Behr for the trim and Bit of Sugar by Behr for the walls. We replaced the front door (which was from the ’80s or ’90s, with dated stained glass and a barely functional storm door) with this modern front door. We painted it Green Balsam by Behr. It’s a perfect sage green with a bit of blue that almost plays as a neutral.

I also redid the marble floor grout by hand using Grout Renew in the color Snow White. This took the most time out of probably any project in the whole house. Since I was turning dark grout super light, it ended up taking about four coats, which translated to six nap times (or more than 10 hours.)  Eeeek. But it looks so good in the end, so oh well!

(P.S.—did you spot Dolly?)

We had the floors refinished (and also added wood to match in certain areas) and it’s so nice to have the entire home matching and cohesive. We used FGL flooring in Nashville (highly recommend).

Let’s talk furniture!

The fuzzy white chairs are from Article. I saw one at Laura’s house and fell in love (we have an ongoing curse of buying the same furniture, even though we try not to!). They are comfortable and beautiful. The pink sofa is from Jonathan Adler, and is my absolute dream sofa. The rug is a Hygge rug by Loloi that I purchased locally from Apple & Oak (if you message her she can order any Loloi rug for you in any size). The coffee table is from our old sunroom. The mirror is from Rejuvenation. It’s so huge and beautiful. I really love it. It opens up the room a lot.

The pillow is from here and the beige and white moroccan blanket is from Lucky Collective Shop.

The cactus print is from our new print shop—find it here. And these flowers are from our yard—how cute is that? We have a tree full of these tropical flowers right now.

Source list// Pink Sofa: Jonathan Adler, White Chairs/Article (c/o), Standing Mirror/Rejuvenation, Hygge Rug/Apple & Oak, Pom Pom Pillow/ Winnoby, Stripe Blanket/ Lucky Collective Shop, Yarn Wall Hanging/ DIY, Chandelier/Wayfair.
